Well, as you all may know (or may not in some cases), we've all been sick, starting at the tail end of last year.
Dec 7th (or so):
My mother-in-law had knee surgery. Replacing her left knee this time. Unfortunately due to hospitalization coverage, she had to spend the first week in a nursing home receiving some care. That was absolutely horrible, since the nursing home nurses all treated her as though she was a permanent nursing home patient - and they couldn't understand why she had so many visitors... Well, duh! Can't these people read!
Dec 23rd or so:
We had Andrew in to the doctor's office. He had an ear infection (not uncommon, since he has teeth coming through). And also Bronchiolitis. The doctor said that if that continues for a time, or recurs enough, there is a good chance he'll have asthma.
Dec 28th:
We had Lauren in to the Pediatrician's office. She was running a fever, and saying her throat hurt a little bit.
Dec 30:
I went to the doctor with pain/swelling/redness of my elbow. And chest congestion - my belief was Sinusitis once again. After having done a Google search on the web, I came up with a diagnosis of either Bursitis, or Gouty Arthritis, and believed it was the latter. Well, the doctor verified both, although I never mentioned either one to him until after he diagnosed me.
Dec 30:
Maria met the doctor as well due to chest congestion and discolored mucus. Sinus infection, and he tested for Strep Throat. And this doesn't go too well with being pregnant with Jessica (our soon to be newest addition to the family).
Dec 31 -- yes, New Year's Eve --:
We took Samantha to the emergency room at A.I. Dupont. We found out she had Pneumonia.
Update on everyone:
Mama: She's getting around without her walker, but she's using a cane so she doesn't put so much stress on her back. She still has to shower in our stand-up shower though, because she can't quite get her leg over the side of the regular bath tub. This (as you all know), is perfectly fine with me. I really wouldn't care if she stayed with us all the time. Except we wouldn't have a room for her when Jessica is born.
Andrew: He's pretty well cleared up. He's eating like there's no tomorrow - always a good sign. Last night he had the runs, but his stool seemed to be getting a little thinner due to the Omnicef medicine he had to take ... which he did like a champ.
Samantha: She's feeling fine, after having finished her Omnicef.
Lauren: She's doing better now that she's a little more than half-way done her Amoxycillan.
Maria: Her mucus isn't discolored anymore, and she stopped taking the Amoxycillan until she can fully verify with her GYN that it's OK - just to double-check our family physician who said that after 6 months there are very few medicines that a pregnant mom can have.
Me: My lungs are back to 80% or so, and I'm back at work. I'm still gonna finish the medication (Ciproflaxin), as well as the Arthrotel for the Gouty Arthritis. The doctor did a lipid test as well, and darn it if my cholesterol still isn't too low! No I'm not kidding, my good cholesterol is below the normal (I think it should be at least 130, but mine is only 82), and my bad cholesterol is on the border of the low end ... can't remember what my total cholesterol was though, guess I should get a copy from the doctor.
